Petrobras - Manaus, Brazil. 1996 FCC Turnaround

PROBLEM: Modification of a flue gas double disc slide valve (PV-204, body: A217 C5) to allow the installation of two electro-hydraulic actuators specifically designed for this application. The valve was operated by a low pressure hydraulic actuator and a manual actuator, which - in the few occasions when it had been used - had forced the operator to long and tough manoeuvering due to its inconvenient location in the line.

SOLUTION: Remosa made a feasibility study which included the modification of the bonnet flange and stuffing box. The actuator was then correctly dimensioned by calculating the required thrust force of operating and process conditions. In addition to these modifications, Remosa proposed a complete valve overhaul with the replacement of the existing internal parts, which was accepted by Petrobras.
